On 6 December, the closing concert of the International Song and Dance Festival took place in the A.L. Durov Circus in Voronezh.
The festival was first held in 2001. It is dedicated to the International Students’ Day and its motto is “For international consent. Against racism and violence.” The festival was organised by Voronezh State University International Education Institute and the Department of Culture of the Voronezh Government. Each year the festival becomes more and more popular.
The participants of the closing concert were selected as a result of the two rounds. The first one was held on 1 December at the Voronezh Cultural Centre for Russian teams performing international songs and dances. The second was held on 2 December at the concert hall of VSU for international students of Voronezh universities. The total number of participants was made up from 800 representatives from 59 countries.
The festival was a joyful musical event for both the participants and the spectators. It became a festival of peace, friendship, and tolerance. Energetic Caucasian dances gave place to soulful Ukrainian and Belorussian songs, energetic African national dances, and rhythmical melodies played on Arabic national instruments.
Before the concert the guests could see interesting exhibitions of national handicraft souvenirs and national games.
