University meetings within the framework of the project "We will cherish you, the Russian language"

The Faculty of Philology of Voronezh State University organised two important cultural and educational events within the framework of the international cultural project "We will cherish you, the Russian language". The project was initiated by Voronezh State University and the National Chamber under the aegis of the governor of the Voronezh region.

On 12 December, a celebration of the birthday anniversary of a well-known writer Chingiz Aitmatov took place in the Nikitin Regional Scientific Library withthe support of the regional public organization of the Kirghiz of the Voronezh region “MURAS”.

On 14 December, the Faculty of Philology and the Moldavian community of the Voronezh region celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Moldavian writer Ion Drutse who wrote in Russian and Moldavian.

The addresses of the ambassadors of Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Moldova in the Russian Federation were read at both events. Among the participants of the events were lecturers and students from VSU, schoolchildren and teachers from Voronezh and the Voronezh region, representatives of Voronezh universities and national communities from Voronezh and the Voronezh region. The programme included reports about the works by the writers, national songs and fragments of films based on the stories by Aitmatov and Drutse. The event concluded with an award ceremony for the winners and the 100 participants of the essay contest dedicated to stories by the writers.

The Russian language made the multicultural communication possible and helped the audience understand each other better and strengthen the good-neighbourly relations. What is more, the young participants had a chance to learn more about Voronezh State University which is the scientific and cultural centre of the city.
