The University of Indonesia (UI) published the results of the "ecological" ("green") ranking of world universities – UI Green Metric Ranking of World Universities 2018. The ranking included 719 universities from 81 countries, including 42 Russian universities.
Every year, Voronezh State University holds leading positions in the ranking. This time it considerably improved its results: it went up 58 positions among international universities and took 183rd place. The university has also improved its position among Russian universities – it moved up 3 positions and took 5th place.
The ranking is aimed at raising awareness about environmental issues among the academic community. The six main criteria of the ranking include energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management and recycling, environment-friendly transportation policy, and the percentage of area on campus covered in vegetation. Moreover, the ranking takes into account the indicators of education and research related to environment.
