Between 1 and 5 February, the Krasnodar region became the epicentre of Russian studentship. Around 500 strongest students from the universities from various Russian cities came to Sochi to take part in the National Student Marathon.
Over 20 teams competed in 15 events for the title of the best university in Russia. The team of Voronezh State University “Doctor of Sciences, Professor Shvarzengold” comprised of 61 people took first place and became the absolute champion of the marathon. Voronezh was granted a yearly title of the best student city in Russia, and VSU was given the title of the best university.
‘Our return to the marathon bore fruit. We became champions in all events. All of the team members are so excited! Our team worked together as a unified whole. Those who did not take part in the event supported the others with all their heart. “One together and all for one” is exactly about “Doctor of Sciences, Professor Shvarzengold”’ said Kristina Kuleshova, the head of the delegation and the curator of the sport events in the team.
Student Marathon is a perfect playground for the development of students’ creativity and sport. Challenging situations encourage the team to develop and let students unfold their talents in a new way. This event is in line with modern life and its pace and lets students develop into real generalists. "Russian Student Marathon" is a great youth event, combining creativity and sports programmes, as well as various master-classes and meetings with celebrities. Since 2003, the festival has been traditionally held during winter holidays on the Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar region with the support of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and the Trade Union of Workers of Public Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
