On 24 May, VSU rector, Dmitry Endovitsky, and head of the Department of German Philology of the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, Lyudmila Velichkova, had a meeting with Prof. Ursula Hirschfeld and Prof. Ines Bose from the Institute of Phonetics and Speech Studies of Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg. They talked about the results of the fruitful collaboration between the two universities as well as about its future development prospects.
Ursula Hirschfeld talked about the joint PhD programme implemented by the faculty. The PhD students have two supervisors, one at VSU and one at Martin Luther University. Upon graduation the students receive two academic degrees: the Russian degree PhD and the German PhD. The double degree denotes that such specialist have a high level of expertise in both Russian and German science.
