Two projects by young researchers from Voronezh State University were among the winners of the youth competition 2019 of the Russian Science Foundation for the activity “Conducting research with the participation of young scientists” within the presidential programme of research projects. The programme provides grant support to long-term projects of leading scientists and helps to create career progression paths for young researchers. This year, over 1,200 works were submitted to the competition.
The following projects by young researchers received grants:
- "Studying the peculiarities of the formation of low-dimensional semiconductor nanoheterostructures on porous silicon" (head researcher: Alexandre Lenshin);
- "Low frequency adaptive hydroacoustic system based on holographic technique of localisation of low-noise acoustic sources" (head researcher: Dmithry Prosovetsky).
The results of the competition for the scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation for support of young Russian scientists and postgraduate students conducting advanced research in top-priority areas of Russian economics modernisation for 2019–2021 were also announced. Tatiana Kolganova and her project "Potentiometric sensors based on perfluorinated membranes and electricity-conducting dopants used to determine anesthetic and antimicrobial medicinal substances" became the winner from VSU in the area "Medical technologies, primarily diagnostic equipment and medicinal products".
"Competitions for scholarship and grants of the President of the Russian Federation make it possible to find and support the most active and determined young researchers. There is no doubt that VSU is fostering a new generation of research leaders who are able to manage a team of young researchers and to implement projects based on ideas that have been put forward. This will contribute considerably to the creation of new scientific schools at the university", said Vice Rector for Research and Innovations, Oleg Kozaderov.
