On 21 September, representative of Voronezh State University: a postgraduate student from the Faculty of Law, Vladislav Koltakov, a student from the Faculty of Physics, Nikolay Tolstykh, and a graduate of the university, Nadezhda Takhari, took part in the restoration of the monument to Ivan Turkenich, a hero of the USSR, the commander of the “Young Guard”, who died in 1944 in Rzeszow (Poland). The students worked as volunteers of the regional patriotic organisation “Sila v Edinstve” (“United We Stand”).

“Apart from the restoration works in Rzeszow, we lay wreaths and fitted tablets to two soldiers of the Red Army, Abdula Akhtayev and Alexander Abashidze, in Dukla and organised a conference aimed at strengthening the friendship between Russia and Poland. All this is of great importance for the unity of our nations”, said Vladislav Koltakov, one of the volunteers.

The event was held as a part of the project “Russia and Poland: preserving historical and cultural heritage” initiated by the patriotic organisation.
