Ilia Kaznacheev, a postgraduate student from the Department of Mathematical Physics and Information Technologies, received a postgraduate scholarship by the Acoustical Society of America for a series of projects dedicated to the interferometer processing of underwater signals detected by single vector-scalar mode detector. The young scientist developed a new method of processing underwater signals which will expand the capabilities of modern underwater acoustics.

Vice Rector for Research and Innovations of Voronezh State University, Oleg Kozaderov, congratulated Ilia Kaznacheev and his research supervisor. He also pointed out that the investigation has great research potential.

“I am delighted that my project is among but a few studies by young acoustics researchers from Russia recognised by the Acoustical Society of America. I am very proud of our university that trains such high-profile specialists,” said a postgraduate student from the Department of Mathematical Physics and Information Technologies, Ilia Kaznacheev.

“I hope Ilia’s research, which won an international scholarship, will continue. His research project is the first step towards the processing of underwater signals by interferometer that has been developed by us. This seems to be a promising method that can be used to solve a wide range of applied underwater acoustics tasks: communication, navigation, and ocean environment monitoring,” said the Head of the Department of Mathematical Physics and Information Technologies, Sergey Peresyelkov.

Every year, the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) awards about 20 scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate students from different countries. Ten of the scholarships were received by young researchers from Russia.
