On 5 March, the exhibition of paintings by the members of the Union of Russian Artists, Viktor Boichenko and Valery Semonov, opened in the Rector’s Gallery in main building of Voronezh State University. The exhibition is called “Continuing the tradition of Russian art”. The artists are recognised masters of realism in art. Among the first visitors of the event were students and staff of Voronezh State University.

“We are glad that our works will be exhibited in the main university of Voronezh. It is a great honour. Both VSU students and lecturers are not just interested in art, they understand it well,” said Valery Semenov.

Viktor Boichenko explained how he chose the paintings for the exhibition.

“Students have their favourite places in the city: cafés, cinemas, and concert halls. However, the corners of the old city are hidden from their eyes. And those were the students, the first visitors of the exhibition, who pointed out that they found the old narrow streets, tiny windows of one-storey buildings covered with snow the most interesting because they represent the unknown parts of the city. Apart from urban landscapes the audience could see a lot of other paintings showing the outskirts of Voronezh, the rivers Voronezh and Usmanka, the settlement Medvezhie, and the preserved areas around Ramon.

The exhibition presents very diverse works of the painters: landscapes, portraits, classical still-life paintings (canvass, oil), lino prints, and watercolours. Everybody without fail can find a picture there to sympathise with.
