Scientists from Voronezh State University were among the winners of the competition for RSF grants in the field of “Implementation of Fundamental Scientific Research and Exploratory Research by Research Groups”.

In 2020, the foundation supports the following VSU projects:

  • “Genomics and physiology of filamentous colourless sulphur bacteria” (head researcher – professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Physiology, Margarita Grabovich),
  • “Urboecodiagnostics of the condition of air in large industrial cities of the Central Black Earth region: exposure to noise factors, carcinogenic risks, and environmental safety” (head researcher – professor Semion Kurolap, the Dean of the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism).

“This year, the winners were the projects by scientists from the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences and the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism. The results of the research supported by the Russian Science Foundation will contribute to solving a number of environmental problems, which are urgent today because of the increase in anthropogenic impact on natural ecosystems,” said the vice rector for Research and Innovations, Oleg Kozaderov. “Winning the competition confirms that Voronezh State University is equally strong not only in physics, chemistry, and mathematics, the areas in which it traditionally receives grant support, but also in other, no less important, natural scientific fields that are actively developing at the university.”
