Students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics simulate the spread of Covid-19

The scientific conference of young scientists and students “Mathematics, Information Technologies, and Applications”, which was held by the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics of Voronezh State University, included three talks dedicated to the pressing issue of the spread of Covid-19.

Sofia Palkina, a first year student from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics (supervised by Vera Ukhlova, associate professor at the Department of Mathematical Methods of Operations Research), Svetlana Ageyeva and Anna Kosobutskaya, second year students from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics (supervised by Sergei Medvedev, associate professor at the Department of Computational Mathematics and Applied Information Technologies), and Ihtiyorzhon Rakhimov, a second year student from the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics (supervised by Sergei Medvedev, associate professor at the Department of Computational Mathematics and Applied Information Technologies), made an attempt to simulate the process of the spread of coronavirus in Russia in various situations and with different restrictions imposed.

All in all, 83 participants with 67 talks had submitted their applications for the conference. As is tradition, it was an interdisciplinary event. Its main goal was to make young specialists familiar with the latest news in modern science and to share knowledge and achievements in different areas of science.
