Between 22 and 24 October, lecturers from the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology took part in the international scientific conference “Romance Philology in the Time of Multilingualism” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Moscow State Linguistic University.
The conference discussed a wide range of issues in the area of the modern romance philology aimed at the popularisation of research in the area of romance linguistics and translation studies, at the development of partnerships with Russian and French universities, and at the study of linguistic and cultural heritage of the French-speaking world. The Ambassadors from France, Columbia, Mexico, Switzerland, and Portugal emphasised how important it is to study the multilingual cultures of romance countries. Professor Elena Alexeyeva, Head of the Department of French Philology, moderated the session on “Synchronic and diachronic approaches to studying structural levels of romance languages: phonetics, morphology, syntax, and lexicon”. She also presented the results of the research in the area of French syntax conducted at the Department of French Philology. Alexandra Chvirova, a lecturer from the Department of French Philology, gave a report at the session.
Also, Elena Alexeyeva took part in the meeting for the organisational committee for the International Day of the Teacher of French Language, which is celebrated in Russia with the support of the French Embassy in the Russian Federation and the National Association of Teachers of French Language. Elena Alexeyeva told the participants of the meeting about the events which will be held in Voronezh to celebrate the holiday.
