University philosophers are participants of an international educational seminar

Between 17 and 19 December, Moscow State University hosted the seminar “International education and integration: new challenges and solutions” (as a part of the series of annual scientific seminars “Dialogue of civilisations and intercultural cooperation”). Among its participants were Stanislav Sulimov, Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Culture, with his report “Education as a tool for cultural expansion” and Irina Strelnikova, a second year master’s student from the Department of Philosophy with her research project “The impact of media sphere on education today”.

The participants of the online meetings were researchers from Greece, Bulgaria, Israel, Donetsk People's Republic, India, Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Tajikistan, Germany, Azerbaijan, Latvia, Hungary, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Moldova, and Finland. Ksenia Gaverdovskaya, Counsellor of the Secretariat of the UNESKO Commission of the Russian Federation, and Alexey Borisov, deputy chairperson of the Russian UN Association of Russia, welcomed the audience.

The seminar was divided into the following sections: “Integration and education: global challenges and regional practices”, “Intercultural dialogue under conditions of global uncertainty”, and “Spiritual and moral education for the benefit of students, family, and society”. The seminar also included round table discussions “Integration of migrants through the use of educational tools: expectations and reality” and “Russian schools abroad: a place for integration”, online discussions “#stay_at_home and Covido ergo zoom: the language of the pandemic and a new social and cultural reality”, and “Identity and education: a difficult affair”. Moreover, lecturers from Moscow State Pedagogical University held master classes for delegates from other Russian cities and abroad: “Ethnic education from 0 and beyond” (presented by Professor Anna Shevtsova and Associate Professor Marina Krivenkaya) and “Shaping civic consciousness in modern schools” (presented by Associate Professor Olga Yashina).
