The Russian Science Foundation announced the results of the 2021 competition “Implementation of Fundamental Research and Exploratory Research by Research Groups”. Among the winners are Pavel Seredin, Head of the Department of Solid State Physics, with his project “Biomimetical composites imitating the characteristics of enamelum and human dental tissue: production and fundamental research of the mechanisms of their integration with native dental tissues on a submicron level, Vera Vasilieva, Professor at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, with her project “Fundamental basis for the production of new heterogeneous ion-exchange membranes with dominating electrical convection for high-intensity electrodialysis”, and Grigory Uskov, Professor at the Department of Electronics, with his project “Development of the methods for synthesis and analysis of ultra-wideband devices for radio location and communication systems using quasi-radio signals”.

“13 research groups from VSU participated in the competition. The number of winning applications not only speaks of the quality of the prepared applications but also that there is serious research potential which has been confirmed by publications in highly ranked journals in the first quartile (Q1). Teams of leading and young researchers will be formed at VSU based on the winning projects, and their research will be aimed at the solution of the most relevant tasks and obtaining new original results in priority fields such as composite materials, radioelectronic and location systems, and electromembrane technologies,” noted VSU Vice Rector for Research, Innovations, and Digitising Oleg Kozaderov.
