On 7 April, a Russian-Chinese conference “Ecological problems of Russia and China in the regional perspective” was held online. Researchers from the Sichuan Provincial Natural Resources Research Institute and Sichuan Institute of Nuclear Science and Geology took part in the conference. Voronezh State University was represented by staff members from the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism, the Faculty of Geology, and the Faculty of Medicine and Biology, as well from the B.M. Kozo-Polyansky Botanical Garden. The event was opened by VSU Vice Rector for Research, Innovations, and Digitising, Oleg Kozaderov, director of the Sichuan Provincial Natural Resources Research Institute, Professor Qin Zheng, and Deputy Director of Sichuan Institute of Nuclear Science and Geology, Wang Xiaogang.
Oleg Kozaderov noted that our long-lasting cooperation with the colleagues from the Sichuan province is successfully developing. For instance, there are multiple joint publications, including the multi-authored monograph “Alien plants in the city of Chengdu” that was published in China in early 2021. VSU Vice Rector for Research, Innovations, and Digitising also stated that a mobile international consortium of scientists had been formed that proved its practical ability to solve complex issues in the field of biology and geoecology. Andrey Voronin, Director of the Botanical Garden of VSU, pointed out new directions of joint research work aimed at the preservation of biodiversity.
Participants of the conference summarised the results of their 7-year-long cooperation in the field of geological, biological, and geographical sciences, shared the results of their research in 2020, and discussed the cooperation plans for the following five years.
