Representatives of VSU have made plans to build an interuniversity stadium in Voronezh. The new stadium, with open access for everyone, is expected to be constructed in the northern university campus. This news was announced by the university Rector, Dmitry Endovitsky, at the meeting of the Board of Trustees which took place on 12 May, Wednesday. The meeting was presided over by Alexander Gusev, the Governor of the Voronezh Region, who gave an assignment to consider the possibility.

“VSU is the regional leader in the area of education. It should be accessible, innovative, and focused on teaching modern and professional skills. That is why the government of the Voronezh Region will surely support, as far as possible, its existing projects and the plans for growth,” said Alexander Gusev.

The meeting started with the report of the VSU rector on the results of the university's activities in 2011–2021. Dmitry Endovitsky told the audience about the construction of the swimming pool, the building of the Faculty of Economics, student’s hall of residence, the reconstruction of the concert hall, and the innovative business incubator.

“Over the past 10 years, VSU has shown growth in many key areas, such as research activity, winning federal and international grants, human resource policy, and interaction with the real sector of the economy. Voronezh State University is a platform for the interaction of scientific schools, businesses, and authorities,” said Dmitry Endovitsky.

The rector also pointed out the VSU plans to take part in the federal programme of academic strategic leadership programme “Priority–2030”. Alexander Gusev promised to support VSU’s application for the contest within the programme in the nomination “Universities as Territorial and/or Industrial Leaders”. Additionally, the proposal of Dmitry Endovitsky to create upon the completion of the contest a Consortium of Voronezh State University and Voronezh State Technical University aimed at the implication of the development programme was also accepted favourably.

The next meeting of the Board of Trustees is to take place in September 2021.
