On 15 and 16 May, a traditional interregional festival “Spring parade of flowers” took place in the botanical garden of VSU. The festival presented blooming collections and exhibits, exhibitions and fairs of pot and garden plants.

The curators of collections conducted guided tours for the guests of the festival. Well-known flower growers, gardeners, and experts presented their master classes. The highlight of the event was the phyto lab, a popular and educative part of the festival. It was created by students from the Faculty of Pharmaceutics of VSU, Alexey Bolgov, Phyodor Evsikov, and Alexander Dunilin. The project was supervised by Alevtina Gudkova, Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Management in Pharmaceutics and Pharmacognosy. The organisers of the phyto lab told the guests of the festival about medicinal plants, the processes of preparing raw materials and herbarium. They also gave short lectures about the most useful plants presented at the exhibition.

“The impressions are most favourable: there were quite a lot of visitors who were on the same wavelength with the botanical garden and delved into its fascinating atmosphere. The guests were surely won over by the phyto lab. The students from the Faculty of Pharmaceutics headed by Alevtina Gudkova did their best: they were highly sought after, their knowledge was shared with the attendees,” said Lilia Lepeshkina, a leading biologist at the VSU Botanical Garden.
