An Associate Professor at the Department of Russian Literature of XX–XXI Centuries, Theory of Literature, and Humanities Alexander Zhytenev gave lectures on contemporary Russian literature to master’s degree and PhD students of the Russian Language Institute of the University of Heilongjiang in Harbin.
The first lecture “Russian literature of the 2010s: tendencies, events, people” took place on 29 May and the second lecture “Postnonfiction, autofiction, and the philological novel in modern Russian literature” was held on 2 June. They were attended by over 70 students, who were very interested in the topic. They discussed the factors contributing to the growing popularity of documentaries in contemporary Russian literature, the signs of new realism, the crisis facing literature magazines, as well as particular authors and texts.
