The Days of Germany began at VSU on 20 September. The opening ceremony was held in the conference hall.

The Rector of VSU, Dmitry Endovitsky, opened the ceremony.

“Dear guests and colleagues! There has been a bit of a break in the pandemic, so it’s nice to see German and Voronezh researchers together. I am grateful to the Embassy of Germany in Russia, the University of Hamburg, and Martin Luther University who helped to organise the Days of Germany in Russia. Voronezh has been cooperating with Germany for over 60 years, since 1961 when more than 2 thousand German students completed their training at various VSU faculties. The German Alumni Association has been operating at VSU for over 20 years. We work collaboratively, for example, recently we have signed an agreement on a double degree bachelor's programme.”

After that Dmitry Endovitsky talked about an amazing discovery made in Germany: they found books that belonged to VSU's library but had been lost during World War II. The guests were also welcomed by Galina Ivanova, Deputy Head of the Department of Education, Science, and Youth Policy, and Ines Bose, DSc in Philology.

The Days of Germany in Voronezh will last until 24 September.
