On 15 October, a meeting of the Committee of the National Council of the Russian Federation on Youth Policy was held. The key topic of the event was the promotion of sport among students and the youth. The meeting, which was held online, was initiated by Evgeny Revenko, Deputy Head of the United Russia party in the State Duma and a member of the State Duma Committee on Physical Education and Sports. The meeting was moderated by Maxim Avdeyev, Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the Yaroslavl Region and Chief Secretary of the committee. Among the participants were heads of universities and representatives of the State Duma, ministries, the Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia, and the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.
The participants of the meeting discussed the current state of the sports infrastructure at institutions of higher and secondary vocational education. Some proposals were made regarding the development of the students sport movement.
In his report, VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky, pointed out the key problem for developing students sport movement in Voronezh: despite the fact that there are 35 universities and over 100 thousand students (1/10 of the total population) in the city, there are no key regional sports centres. Dmitry Endovitsky addressed the committee with a proposal to make arrangements for the construction of an all-weather stadium in Voronezh.
“Voronezh State University is ready to provide land where the key regional sports facilities could be constructed. It could be used by all universities in Voronezh,” said the VSU rector.
Earlier, in May 2021, Dmitry Endovitsky talked about the construction of an inter-university stadium in Voronezh at the meeting of the Board of Trustees of VSU.
