Over 1,200 students and university staff participated in the Great Ethnographic Dictation held between 3 and 7 November. This year the most active participants were from the following faculties: the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism, the Faculty of Journalism, the Faculty of International Relations, the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, as well as the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Geology, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Medicine and Biology.
“Ethnographic Dictation is a good opportunity for our students and staff to find out more about the culture and traditions of their country and Voronezh Region. The Great Ethnographic Dictation allows assessing the general level of ethnocultural awareness of the participants and their knowledge of the nations of Russia. Such events help to establish peace, harmony, and mutual understanding between students of different nationalities, which is especially important for the international Voronezh State University,” said Professor Semion Kurolap, the coordinator of Ethnographic Dictation at VSU.
The educational event was held for the sixth time by the Federal Agency for Nationality Affairs with the informational support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The event was dedicated to National Unity Day.
