On 12 November, the results of the second stage of the eco-marathon that started last December were announced on a webinar meeting. A team from the Faculty of Medicine and Biology representing VSU took first place.
Students from Russian universities participated in the marathon as part of the Russian-German project “Climate-neutral waste management in the Russian Federation” launched by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). This is a large-scale project that shows various aspects of life in Germany as well as the peculiar features of Russian-German relations in the fields of culture and art, language, education and science, tourism, environment and climate protection, economics and technology, renewable energy sources, and sustainable development.
From 1 to 11 November, student teams from nine universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Perm, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, and Kazan completed assignments in order to receive title of the most creative team that cares about environmental problems. The assignments were assessed by a jury that included representatives of the Goethe-Institut, the German Society for International Cooperation, and the “Sobirator” project. Olga Balakina, editor-in-chief of the TV company “Civilization” and member of the Academy of Russian Television, acted as an independent expert. She assessed the videos made by the participants of the eco-marathon.
The student eco-marathon organised by Voronezh State University as part of the “Green Campus VSU project: On the green track” will continue promoting eco-habits and living in the eco-friendly style.
