On 3 November, students of the School of Interethnic Journalism functioning at the Faculty of Journalism of VSU defended their graduation papers. This class was the last in the fifth season of the project.
During two and a half months, the students studied the peculiar features of working with the topic of interethnic relations and practised their knowledge by preparing and publishing more than 40 materials and a dozen news articles. The students of the school also visited various ethnic and cultural sites, met with experts in the field of journalism and interethnic relations, and conducted a video conference with other regions that participated in the project. Half of the time the project was held remotely. On 27 November, students will receive their certificates. On 28 November, three project graduates, Ekaterina Dygalo, Polina Sukhanova, and Polina Kobeleva, will go to the final conference in Moscow where they will present the works of their school. The programme of events includes participation in the V National Media Forum of Ethnic and Regional Media and the awarding ceremony for the winners of the ХIII National Media Contest “SMIrotvorets” for the best approach to interethnic and ethno-confessional issues. There will also be a two-day conference in the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and an ethnic trip to Kostroma.
The School of Interethnic Journalism is a project organised by the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs and the Guild of Interethnic Journalism supported by the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation. In 2021, 12 students from the Faculty of Journalism, the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology, and the Faculty of History studied at this school. In total, during 2021 the classes were held in 25 cities of Russia.
