Elizaveta Natsentova, a master’s degree student from the Department of Human Geography and Regional Studies at the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism participated in the More Than a Trip project. She was given this opportunity as the winner of the national competition of student papers in the framework of the Professional Internships 2.0 project. The tour of the Golden Ring of Russia was organised for winners and awardees of competitions and projects from all over Russia. It took place from 17 to 20 February.

“I always find it most important to socialise (especially when you realise you have only three days to spend together) and meet talented folks, finalists and winners of competitions, contests, and volunteer and creative projects. We were introduced to the classic Golden Ring tourist route, assessed the state of the route and its attractiveness to young people. We were not just spectators, but active participants. The quest in Suzdal (orienteering around the city) was particularly memorable for me. I was also interested in the new (for me) format of the sightseeing tour, a walk with a townsman (in Sergiev Posad). I also enjoyed the workshops: painting a Posad matryoshka and pottery painting using ceramic pigments. As a result, the participants made some suggestions for the development of the image of the Golden Ring route among young tourists. The ideas were submitted to the relevant agencies and organisations of Yaroslavl, Moscow, and Vladimir regions,” said Elizaveta Natsentova.

Since September 2021, more than 50,000 people have been granted free tourism trips as part of the joint project “More Than a Trip” by the Federal Tourism Agency, the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs, the platform “Russia is a Land of Possibilities”, and the Russian Foundation “Znaniye”. 250 new tours of Russia with a rich educational and volunteering programmes have been developed especially for the project. The routes include all federal districts, from the Kaliningrad Region to Vladivostok.
