On 8 April, the 11th international scientific conference “April Scientific Conference in Memory of Professor L.T. Gilyarovskaya” took place at the main building of Voronezh State University. Traditionally, it was organised by the staff of the Department of Economic Analysis and Audit and the Department of Economic Security and Accounting of the Faculty of Economics, the Department of International Economics and International Business of the Faculty of International Relations, and Professor L.T. Gilyarovskaya Resource Centre. The conference was attended by lecturers and students from 20 universities in Russia, Belarus, and Tajikistan. Following the event, the proceedings of the conference were published, and articles were prepared for the journal “Proceedings of VSU. Series: Economics and Management”.
Opening speeches were delivered by Dmitry Endovitsky, Rector of VSU, Larisa Korobeinikova, Vice-Rector for Economics and Contract Services, Head of the Department of Economic Analysis and Audit of the Faculty of Economics at VSU, Pavel Kanapukhin, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, and Natalia Sapozhnikova, Head of the Department of Economic Security and Accounting of the Faculty of Economics.
“Lilia Gilyarovskaya deserved to be regarded as one of the most valuable figures of Voronezh State University. She was one of the few teachers, scholars who created scientific schools, whose names are known throughout Russia and abroad. She became head of the Accounting Department at the Faculty of Economics of the Voronezh State University in 1970, only two months after defending her candidate’s thesis at Lomonosov Moscow State University. As the only PhD staff member at the department, Lilia Gilyarovskaya was able to bring together enthusiastic people in love with their profession, inspiring them to defend their dissertations, work actively with students, and write textbooks and monographs that were in demand in the country and abroad. Soon after she defended her doctoral dissertation in Moscow. This was followed by new scientific and methodological developments, innovations in the educational system, and attracting young, talented undergraduate and master’s students,” said Professor Dmitry Endovitsky in his welcoming address. Once a student of Lilia Gilyarovskaya, he initiated the April Scientific Conference named after her.
The plenary meeting included speeches by Olga Efimova, DSc in Economics, Professor at the Department of Business Analytics at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Margarita Melnik, DSc in Economics, Professor at the Department of Audit and Corporate Reporting at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Tatiana Odintsova, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Accounting, Analysis, and Audit of Sevastopol State University, and Alexander Frolov, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor, Deputy Dean for Research at the Faculty of Accounting and Finance at Stavropol State Agrarian University.
Also, the 3rd All-Russian Scientific Workshop “Innovative Approaches to Training of Economists” was held as part of the conference.
