Two VSU projects, by Natalia Bukhvalova, Art Director of the university, and Igor Kotok, specialist of the Department of Student Affairs of VSU, won grants of the national contest for youth projects among higher education institutions, held by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh). The “Russian Sport” National Sports Festival will receive 750,000 roubles as the winner in the #remember category, while the VSU School for Student Activists will receive over 1 million roubles in the #inspire category. The “Russian Sport” National Sports Festival of is a multi-discipline competition among the students of various educational institutions in three sports that have official federations and their local branches in the Voronezh region (lapta, kettlebell lifting, and gorodki). It will also include two recreational sports (tug-of-war, dodgeball) and action games that have historically existed in Russia (bear fights, king of the hill, and konyashki). The musical accompaniment of the competitions will take into account the national rhythms: it will include Russian folk songs in a modern arrangement. As some sports are not well developed, summer master classes and trainings will be held for competitors from Voronezh.
“I am very pleased that we are the best university in the region, or, to be more exact, the only one to win grants this year from the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs. Behind this victory was a huge amount of work by the project team and hours of overnight finalising efforts. We worked hard for a long time to ensure that the Russian Sport project would once again have a chance to be implemented. I hope that this year we will be able to demonstrate the highest level of organisation and make the event not just a competition, but also a festival for the young people of Voronezh and the Central Federal District. We would also like to thank Alexandra Nazarova, Head of the Department of Student Affairs. She was one of the originators of the project and continues to help with its implementation. We also thank the ASSC of Russia and the Department of Physical Education for consulting assistance to the project team. Now we will work hard to finalise the regulations of the festival and find contacts to communicate with the sports federations and associations in the sports included in the programme,” commented Igor Kotok.
The School for Student Activists is a cultural and educational forum for creative young people of the Voronezh Region, which is held over 6 days in summer on the territory of a sports and recreation complex. The format of the event allows for a combination of creative and educational activities. The forum includes lectures, workshops, and creative meetings with jury members and special guests.
The educational programme includes the categories:
- Theatre
- Dance
- Singing and musical instruments
- Organisational activities
- Original genres

The creative programme consists of the creative works presented by the participants, which they create as part of the educational programme. The project aims to promote student creativity, involve more students in the cultural and educational life of the region, and unlock and boost their creative potential at the regional and national levels.
