On 17 April, Voronezh State University held an open day. More than 3,000 people came to meet with representatives of the faculties. The Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics, the Faculty of Computer Sciences, and the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology were the most popular. Applicants consistently show high interest in both economics and law. The number of visitors at the Faculty of Physics, the Faculty of Pharmaceutics, the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, and the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology faculties has increased significantly. The applicants interested in the Faculty of Geology, the Faculty of Journalism, the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism, the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of Chemistry, and Military Training Centre were actively involved into career guidance activity. Interestingly, there was a significant increase in attendance at such different faculties as the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, the Faculty of Mathematics, and the Faculty of International Relations at the same time.
The visitors received comprehensive information about the rules of admission to VSU, the number of state-funded places, the ways to submit documents, special rights for applicants, as well as the peculiarities of studying at the university. Schoolchildren and their parents were able to visit the Book Museum and VSU History Museum, the Folk Culture and Ethnography Research Laboratory named after Professor Lazutin, the Macedonian (Balkan) Culture Centre of the Faculty of Philology, the Geological Museum, the Archaeological Museum, the Zoological Museum named after Professor Barabash-Nikiforov, and the TV and radio studios of the Faculty of Journalism. Additionally, there were tours to the laboratories of all departments at the Faculty of Chemistry of VSU, the laboratories at the Department of Optics and Spectroscopy and the Department of Nuclear Physics at the Faculty of Physics, the Chemical and Analytical Laboratory and Meteorological Laboratory at the Faculty of Geography.
Students of the Faculties of Geology, Philology, Physics, and Chemistry prepared creative and educational presentations of their faculties, which created a special atmosphere.
