Four VSU students will go to study at Hong Kong Shue Yan University for the autumn semester of the academic year 2022/2023. The programme will give the students the opportunity to study in English.
In addition, 53 students of Voronezh State University and Qingdao University of Technology take part in the distance exchange programme: they study online for free. Teachers can also participate in the exchange programme.
“I learned about 150 words, learned how to make a short story about myself, my relatives, the weather, how to ask for directions, and how to shop at the market. The Chinese language surprised me because it is so different from other languages: it has four tones, and one syllable can have four different meanings depending on the tone. During the lessons our teacher sometimes switched completely to Chinese, so I could hardly understand anything. But it was even more interesting to study this way: you could feel completely immersed in another language and culture,” said Anna Bogomolova, a first-year master’s student at the Faculty of History.
“The programme allowed me not only to learn the basics of the language, but also to experience Chinese culture. I would like to thank our teachers for that,” said Ekaterina Tarasova, a third-year student of the Faculty of Physics.
“We hope that we will return to the full-time exchange format soon, and trips to Qingdao and Sanya Universities will be resumed. Our Chinese colleagues are considering such a possibility. We plan to open similar exchange programmes with other partner universities in China. Today, 16 cooperation agreements have been signed with Chinese universities,” commented Natalia Ushkova, mobility programme coordinator at the International Relations Office at VSU.
