On 28 April, a seminar “Modern Fiction. New Names” was held in the Nikitin Regional Scientific Library. The event was organised by the Voronezh Centre for the Development of Education and Youth Projects. The participants included teachers and librarians from Voronezh schools.
Among the speakers of the seminar was Larisa Diakova, PhD in Philology, a leading specialist at the Department of Pre-university Education of VSU, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Journalism of VSU. She told the audience about educational projects of Radio Rossia-Voronezh, the programmes “Let’s Speak Russian” (the successor of the project “Word Territory”) and “Let's Talk Together”. She even played recordings of some episodes of the programmes. In her speech Larisa Diakova, the author and the host of these programmes, noted:
“If you use the results of our humble work in the educational process, our team will be really happy. After all, it is not for nothing that in our programmes we talk about famous people, representatives of culture, art, science, and discuss the history of music, speech culture, and local history. These materials can be useful to educators and schoolchildren in their educational and research activities.
Another speaker at the seminar was Alla Shirokova, Head of the regional office of the Russian School Library Association, Director of the Information and Education Centre of OOO Amital. She presented an overview of modern fiction for school-aged children and concluded the results of the 20th children's book festival “You and I are Big Friends of Books”. It is worth noting that Amital and the festival “You and I are Big Friends of Books” have been partners of Voronezh State University and the Department of Pre-university Education in particular, for a number of years.
