VSU regional swimming championship was held between 14 and 15 June in the swimming pool of Voronezh State University. Children born between 2006 and 2011 participated in the competition. Over 200 pupils from sports schools of Voronezh and Voronezh region as well as from Lipetsk, Tula, and Kursk regions took part in the competition.

Yury Perin, Head of the VSU swimming school and 2015 world champion in the Masters category welcomed the participants and wished them good results.

A distinctive feature of this competition is that the tracking of swimming times can be recorded objectively using the electronic timing system. In Voronezh this system can be found only in the sports complex of Voronezh State University.

During the competition, the participants competed for 42 sets of original medals designed by a sports design company. The medals depict the Kitten from Lizyukova Street swimming in the Voronezh reservoir. As a result of their performance, the best swimmers who received most points in accordance with the International Swimming Federation FINA system were awarded with VSU trophies.

The participants showed great results at the end of the sports season, while some of the swimmers achieved first, second, and third senior category classification standards for the first time.
