On 28–30 September, the Fakel swimming pool hosted a regional swimming competition. Two bronze medals were won by Elizaveta Polyakova and Egor Grunskoy, students of the VSU Swimming School.
A total of 154 swimmers from 15 sports schools in Voronezh and the Voronezh Region took part in the competition. The Swimming School of Voronezh State University was represented by a team of 6 athletes. Elizaveta Polyakova took third place. She won bronze medals in the 100-metre backstroke and 50-metre freestyle. Egor Grunskoy also won a bronze medal in the 200-metre medley. The results of all participants can be found in the table.
The competition was dedicated to the Masters of Sport of the Voronezh school of swimming. Yury Perin, head coach of the VSU Swimming School, who contributed to the training of the winners, was one of the Masters.
“A few years ago, I was also honoured at such competitions as a Master of Sport in backstroke of the Voronezh School of Swimming,” said Yury Perin.
The competition was an official qualifier for the championship of the Central Federal District in swimming. As a result, the athletes of the VSU Swimming School became members of the team of the Voronezh Region.
