Voronezh State University continues its cooperation with Chinese universities. During the autumn semester of the academic year 2022/2023, 35 students of the Voronezh State University are distance learning the Chinese language at Qingdao University of Technology and 4 students of VSU are studying full-time at Hong Kong Shue Yan University as part of the academic mobility programme.

At Shue Yan University, courses are taught in English, which significantly expands the exchange opportunities. In the autumn semester, VSU students in Hong Kong study foreign languages, the specifics of intercultural and business communications, the basics of publishing and graphic design, international management, and international law.

“Hong Kong is completely unlike any other Russian city. The food, architecture, culture, and weather – everything is entirely different. The exchange programme includes students from China, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, Italy, and Poland. They are all nice, friendly, very sociable, and excited to talk about their culture and interested to know about ours. Surprisingly, almost everyone knows the tune of the national anthem of Russia,” said Aleksandra Tertyshnaya, a third-year student from the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology.

“Usually students have 3 to 5 subjects per semester. But we study 6 subjects. There is a lot of group work and practical tasks. Our teachers are interested in foreign students, they adapt tasks, add slides in Russian to the presentations, although it is not necessary, as the training is conducted in English, which everyone understands. There are many foreign lecturers at the university: The basics of writing in English is taught by a professor from the USA, English phonetics is taught by a professor from the UK, and French is taught by a lecturer from France,” said Aleksandra.

On 10 October, there will be a competition for VSU students to study at Hong Kong Shue Yan University in the spring semester.
