On Octobe 9, mycologist, associate professor of the Department of Botany and Mycology of the Voronezh State University Gavriil Melkumov, together with representatives of the university, conducted a traditional excursion “Fungi planet. Oak forest mycobiota”. Along with the scientist, students and employees of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, the Faculty of Philology, the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, and the Faculty of Law went for a walk.
“This year we managed to expand the audience participating in the mycological excursion. It's great that the "quiet hunt" allows uniting members of different faculties, and fungi are becoming a favourite object of study” said mycologist Gavriil Melkumov.
The tour took place in the territory of the state natural reserve of regional significance "Voronezh upland oak forest". It was the end of a series of events dedicated to the celebration of the All-Russian Mushroom Picker Day. In honour of this event, a mycological exhibition was held at VSU. “We managed to find 42 species of basidiomycetes and marsupials, as well as 6 taxa of an interesting fungal group, myxomycetes.
