From September 30 to October 2, XXIV Russian Junior Championship (IMP) in sports bridge was held in Zvenigorod. Dmitry Plotnikov, a student from the Faculty of Geology of VSU, became the winner of the competition.
41 pairs of junior players from all over Russia took part in the sports bridge championship. Voronezh was represented by 5 athletes. Daria Ryzhkova, a graduate of the Faculty of Journalism of the Voronezh State University, was also among them. At the same time, not only participants from Voronezh won the championship, a representative from Chelyabinsk was paired with the winner Dmitry Plotnikov.
The competition for the title of champions of Russia in sports bridge among juniors was held in two stages. The first two days were the qualifying stage and the final took place on the last day. Champion Dmitry Plotnikov noted that this result is a reflection of the student's hard work on his skills and ability to play bridge.
“For the first time in my life, I played bridge in June 2019. The next month I took part in my first championship, it was the Cup of the Black Earth Region and then I took the last place. Three years later, I became the champion of Russia, which means that my training was not in vain. Preparation, concentration, and great desire helped me a lot. I went to the championship exclusively for victory and immediately told all my relatives that I would return to Voronezh as the champion of Russia” said Dmitry Plotnikov, a student of the Faculty of Geology of Voronezh State University.
