On 18 October, an IT marathon was held at VSU by Rosatom state corporation. The participants of the marathon were IT students and representatives of Rosatom and its IT integrator Greenatom.
The marathon was officially opened by its organiser Dmitry Zhukalin, Head of the Department of Innovations.
Welcome speeches were given to the participants by Oleg Kozaderov, Vice-Rector for Research, Innovations, and Digitising at VSU and deans of the university’s leading IT faculties – the Faculty of Computer Sciences and the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics.
Oleg Kozaderov pointed out that the university is currently running over 20 IT education programmes with about 3,000 students.
“VSU is a member of the consortium of flagship universities of Rosatom”, said the vice-rector.
Alexander Krylovetsky, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Sciences, said that the faculty works in close collaboration with a large number of companies, Greenatom being one of its key partners.
Sergey Medvedev, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics, wished students to be determined to reach their goals, both academic and professional, even when it involves taking risks.
Anna Kiselyova, an HR manager responsible for attracting Junior specialists at Greenatom, told the participants of the marathon about the company, its mission and prospects, and held a master class “How to stop worrying and find a dream job”.
Other representatives of the company (Margarita Logoshina, Anton Derbishin, Yakhia Ibragimov, Andrey Shvydkiy) also held masterclasses where they talked about the company, employment, and how to make a successful career: “An IT career at Greenatom”, “Machine learning at corporations”, “KURS – a virtual system by Rosatom”. During the masterclasses students could ask questions and communicate with their prospective employers.
The marathon also provided students with an opportunity to have a job interview and career consultations by the experts from Rosatom. Those who passed the tests could receive job and internship offers.
The marathon also included a quiz won by the team of the Faculty of Computer Sciences.
