Students of the VSU Faculty of Journalism are winners of the open national competition for journalism students “Argonavty”. The competition was organised by the Faculty of Journalism of Novosibirsk State University.
A 2022 graduate Elizaveta Kurinskikh took first place in the nomination “Television. Narrative journalism” presenting her graduate qualification paper “You don’t stutter when you are in love” (research advisor – Associate Professor Valeria Kolesnikova, PhD in Philology). Elizaveta also received a special award “For Humanism and storytelling about fragile human souls”.
A fourth year student Polina Sukhanova took second place in the nomination “Broadcast Journalism” presenting a project “Volunteers. Today” (research advisor – Natalia Gaag, PhD in Philology).
A second year master’s degree student Daria Elfimova received a special award “For interest in and a charming view on modern literature” for her documentary “In search of the first line” (research advisor – Associate Professor Valeria Kolesnikova, PhD in Philology).
“My research advisor Natalia Gaag and me are very pleased with this award. It is of special importance for us because our project “Volunteers. Today” is about how people in Voronezh help refugees from Lugansk and Donetsk. It was created when thousands of people who needed help came to our city. It took a lot of effort, both physically and psychologically, since we got to know some really sad stories. So we are glad to know that this project found a response among people in other regions of our country. This is the best prize we can think of. I don’t think that winning a prize is something worth boasting about, but it is very motivating. Besides, “Argonavty” is a prestigious competition with a lot of participants”, said Polina Sukhanova.
