On 28 October, the Career Day at VSU once again brought together the university’s major partners and students who want to start their careers. A career fair, workshops, and interactive meetings by company representatives and influencers were held in the main building for students from various faculties. Also, a round table with employers and representatives of VSU took place at the university as part of the VSU Career Marathon 2022.
Traditionally, Career Day is held at the university in spring and autumn. This time, 334 students from all faculties of VSU attended the event. The list of the event partners includes: SBER, TRAST real estate service, EkoNiva, Severstal, Tekhnologii Doveriya, Kept, Kursk NPP, Dom.rf, Dodo Pizza, RELEX, Rosbank, Sovcombank, and NIIET. Students could meet potential employers, make contacts, and sign up for an internship at the career fair, which took place on the first floor of the main building.
“At Career Day, you can be offered a job right away. I think that’s the most important thing a university can give you. During the event, the representatives of the companies provide information on employment, they are interested in you. I received some attractive offers from several organisations to work remotely as an HR manager with a paid internship. One of the students who attended the career fair with me was invited to Moscow by an employer when they met. It is so easy and simple to find a job here if you are willing to learn and start doing what you enjoy,” said Viktoria Stegantseva, a student from the Faculty of Journalism at VSU.
The organiser of the event, the VSU Career Development and Business Partnership Centre (CDBDC), provided a varied programme of events. The students took part in workshops on interviewing and developing a personal brand. Valeria Robustova, blogger, PR- and SMM-specialist, lecturer at VSU, held a lecture on “How to build a personal brand step by step?”, while Valeria Ivanova, head of the press service of HH.ru, spoke on “How to write a good CV and pass a job interview”. Valeria Ivanova gave an overview of the labour market, talked about finding a job without experience and writing a CV. The informative programme was complemented by gifts and refreshments from the partners.
Career Day is intended to help students find their dream job. In order to achieve this, the CDBDC organises special events to introduce university students to leading companies and employers in the region and the country. The workshops help students learn the secrets of successful employment, as today’s students need to start gaining professional experience already during their university years.
