On 31 October, VSU held an excursion for students of the 9-11 grades of the Nachalo secondary school in the Rossosh District and for the 9th grade students of school No. 9 in Voronezh as part of the VSU for School career guidance project. In the geological museum of VSU, the teenagers were shown a unique collection of minerals, ores, and rocks from various regions. The students were told that the museum contains about 4000 exhibits that were collected by the staff, graduates, and students of the Faculty of Geology. Alla Shchemelinina, head of the museum, told the visitors about the mineral resources of Russia and the Voronezh Region, and about the rich palaeontological collection.
The second part of the programme was an excursion to the Barabash-Nikiforov Zoological Museum. Alexander Klimov, Associate Professor of the Department of Zoology and Parasitology of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, head of the museum, conducted the excursion.
Alexandra Stepynina, Head of the VSU Museum of History, also told the schoolchildren about the rich history of the university, its distinguished scientists, and famous graduates.
The closing point of the programme was the presentation of the university in the White Hall of VSU, conducted by Lyudmila Samokhvalova, Head of the Department of Pre-University Education of VSU. She showed the schoolchildren the university’s website for applicants, told them about the faculties, passing grades, secondary vocational education specialities, the terms and features of the admission campaign, and invited applicants to the Open Day at VSU.
