From 24 to 28 October, Volgograd State University hosted the second Volgograd International Model of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. The event was attended by third-year students of the International Regional Studies specialisation of the Faculty of International Relations of VSU Ekaterina Zavalina, Yuliana Tarasova, Valeria Shelamova, and Anna Khrustaleva. During the week, participants were immersed in the incredible world of international politics and diplomatic games.
The Volgograd International Model of the SCO is a joint project of the Centre for Public Diplomacy and the Institute of History, International Relations, and Social Technologies of Volgograd State University. It is a conference in the format of a diplomatic game.
It was one of the most memorable models, as I was a representative of the delegation of the People’s Republic of China in the Committee of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs. China is one of the key founding countries of the SCO. At the model, after listening to the positions of the countries on the agenda, “The use of technologies to influence the domestic political life as a threat to the regional stability of the SCO member states”, two coalitions were formed. I was the co-leader of one of them together with a girl who represented the delegation of the Russian Federation. We worked together to ensure the adoption of our project, which was considered the main document,” commented Ekaterina Zavalina.
