On 10 November, the Symphony Orchestra of Voronezh Concert Hall performed in the VSU concert hall “University Hall”. This cultural event was dedicated to the 104th anniversary of the first lectures held at VSU. The house was full: over 600 university staff came to the concert. They listened to classical, jazz, and modern popular music.

VSU Rector Dmitry Endovitsky gave a speech before the concert and said that it was thanks to VSU, the first university in Voronezh, that our city had achieved the status of one of the biggest university centres of the country. He reminded that soon, on 19 November, a new holiday, the Day of the Higher Education Lecturers, would be celebrated in Russia. Now thousands of VSU teachers have their own professional holiday.

“It is very important that despite all the troubles and difficulties that we have to overcome today we are here together,” concluded Dmitry Endovitsky.

According to Ludmila Vladimirova, the chair of the Trade Union Committee of VSU, the university staff always show great interest to the concerts of the Symphony Orchestra at VSU. This year, many VSU employees wanted to see the festive concert, so all 636 tickets to the “University Hall” were sold out rather quickly. And the concert itself was a unique and uniting event for many VSU representatives.

The virtuoso performance of the orchestra was conducted by the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, maestro Yury Androsov. Professor Bronislav Tabachnikov, art historian and a famous host of musical events in Voronezh, acted as the master of ceremony at this concert.
