On November 16 and 17, the Voronezh Microelectronics in the National Research and Production Complex forum was held in the main building of Voronezh State University. More than 150 people attended the two-day event. Among them were representatives of AO United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation (Rostech), AO NIIME (GK Element), AO NIIET, AO Scientific Research Institute of Space Instrumentation, AO Research Institute of Instruments, Voronezh State University, Voronezh State Technical University, and Voronezh State Forest Engineering University.

On the first day, the participants presented reports at the Vectors of Development of Russian Microelectronics discussion panel and attended the Technologies and Materials of Microelectronics foresight session. An exhibition was opened at the Museum of the History of Voronezh State University, where representatives of universities and enterprises of the region presented their developments in microelectronics.

After the forum, participants discussed the "exhibits" at the Innovative Developments of Universities of the Voronezh Region for the Microelectronic Industry round table.

The second day began with the Information Technologies in Microelectronics: Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Software foresight session and continued with Microelectronics in Modern Communications and Electronic Warfare foresight session. Also on this day, the Personnel for the Microelectronics Industry round table was held, where 5 reports were presented.

“For the first time in the post-Soviet period, such a forum was held in Voronezh. This is a very important event initiated personally by Governor Alexander Gusev. The forum brought together representatives of the leading enterprises of three state corporations, Rostech, Rosatom and Roscosmos. During the two days of the forum, a serious expert assessment of the directions for the development of microelectronics was carried out, taking into account the long-term effects of sanctions both in the country and in the Voronezh region. Prospective directions of development of microelectronic components were determined. VSU, together with the Research Institute of Electronic Technology, is actively working on the development of gallium nitride technologies to create a basis for electronic components.

A consolidated opinion that it is important for the Voronezh region to de jure create an electronics industry cluster with the direct involvement of regional universities was also developed. For this, an appeal to the governor of the Voronezh region on the creation of an electronics industry cluster with the establishment of a management company was included in the resolution. This will allow industrial and university research teams to coordinate their efforts to jointly apply for national grants and federal funding. Another important decision was the proposal to the governor to direct the first of the planned funds as part of state support for regional universities in 2023 for the creation of electronics laboratory to solve research problems for the electronics industry in the Voronezh region,” said VSU Rector, Professor Dmitry Endovitsky.
