On 5 December, VSU hosted a meeting between representatives of the Students’ Research Society of the Faculty of Geology of VSU and engineers from the Department of Construction and Production of Radio Equipment of the Faculty of Radio Engineering and Electronics of VSTU. The participants discussed the design of gold self-assembly facilities and research into the process of its crystallisation from ammonia solutions.

“There are no applied engineering capacities at VSU. Therefore, some important and practically significant projects cannot be implemented. So, the meeting is important as a starting point for cooperation and the exchange of experience,” said Igor Danilenko, Chair of the Students’ Research Society of the Faculty of Geology.

As Eduard Kagramanov from the engineering team of the Department of Construction and Production of Radio Equipment of VSTU noted, “Cooperation between different areas of science is very important”:

“Specialists from the Faculty of Geology at VSU have sufficient competence to carry out major research and provide practical results, but they need substantial experimental facilities for this. Creating such facilities requires in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering and the principles of the design and manufacture of electronic devices. Specialists from the Faculty of Radio Engineering and Electronics at VSTU are able and willing to assist. We believe that our interactions will not only set the stage for further cooperation between the faculties, but will also result in practical benefits for science.
