Voronezh State University and Sitronics Group signed an agreement to develop and implement modern digital and production technologies used in the real sector of the economy and in education. As part of the cooperation, the Inter-university Olympiad in Programming was held at the university with the support of the company. More than 40 teams from the Voronezh Region solved practical cases prepared by Sitronics Group experts.

Sitronics Group entered the Silver category of the Forbes rating “The Best Employers in Russia – 2022” and the top twenty of in the “Russian Employers Rating” by RBC. The company develops IT solutions for the digital transformation of key industries, implements smart city solutions, produces its own IT equipment, provides complex solutions for the digitalisation of shipping and satellite technology. The company actively develops electric charging infrastructure and produces electric ships. Sitronics Group is part of Sistema Group and cooperates with universities as part of the Corporation’s ESG agenda.

As part of the agreement, the parties plan to participate in joint projects, hold sector-specific conferences and events. The first of them was the Olympiad for students, held in cooperation with the Faculty of Computer Sciences of VSU.

The winners of the competition were awarded commemorative prizes. The participants also had the opportunity to boost their skills and demonstrate them to the management of the company.

At the meeting held on 12 December, the heads of the university and Sitronics Group discussed the prospects for further cooperation and exchanged information on their projects. In particular, Dmitry Endovitsky, Rector of VSU, delivered a presentation on networking between the university and the business community, talked about IT training at VSU, and introduced the university’s key projects (VSU Projects Office, Engineering and Supercomputer Centres, etc.). For representatives of Sitronics Group, an excursion was organised to the Museum and Exhibition Centre of VSU, the Centre for Collective Use of Scientific Equipment, and the laboratories of INTECHROS. The guests were introduced to the projects of Yaroslav Turovsky, Professor at the Department of Digital Technology at the Faculty of Computer Sciences, dedicated to medical cybernetics.

Sitronics Group is a very large company within Sistema Group. It is a hub of innovative solutions for many industries: transport, medicine, pharmacy, and communications (including mobile communications). Therefore, it is very important for the university to cooperate with such a partner. Not only our IT-related faculties (the Faculty of Computer Sciences and the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics) are interested in the partnership. Our cooperation can also cover the projects of the Faculty of Physics (electronics, communications), the Faculty of Pharmaceutics, the Faculty of Chemistry, and a number of other units of the university. We made an agreement with Sitronics Group regarding a comprehensive strategic cooperation both in terms of employment of graduates and internships. We intend to organise a meeting of the management of Voronezh State University and Sitronics Group with Aleksandr Gusev, Governor of the Voronezh Region. It is a positive development for the region and its innovation structure when such high-tech companies come to the region,” commented Dmitry Endovitsky, Rector of Voronezh State University.

In 2022, more than 5,000 students completed practical trainings and internships at the companies of Sistema Group. Some of the students took part in the “Lift to the Future”, an all-Russian programme for career guidance, training, and employment assistance for young people implemented by the Sistema Charitable Foundation. In the future, the agreement with Sitronics Group will enable VSU students to undertake practical training at the company, especially at the Voronezh branch of Sitronics Group.

“This year we opened a development centre in Voronezh and we plan to expand it. Therefore, we look forward to fruitful collaboration with VSU in terms of training qualified IT specialists with a focus on application aspects. We intend to launch a series of lectures for senior university students on the modern technology stack that we use in our company. The Olympiad, which we held together with the university, and similar events will allow talented young people to demonstrate their knowledge and come into the spotlight for future development and employment,” said Pavel Dreiger, Vice-President for Software Products and Solutions at Sitronics Group.
