The Voronezh Region entered the top 10 Russian regions with the largest number of students admitted to universities. The region also occupies the 9th position in the ranking of regions with largest education systems. The results were published in the third part of the performance monitoring of Russian universities by the quality of admission conducted by the Higher School of Economics. The study was conducted by the Institute of Education of the Higher School of Economics under the supervision of Yaroslav Kuzminov.
Voronezh State University took first place by the total number of admitted students, which was 3,669. The second and third places were given to Voronezh State Technical University (2,152 students) and Voronezh State Pedagogical University (1,407 students). The total number of students admitted to universities in the Voronezh Region in 2022 was 11,816. This is 389 students more than in 2021.
The leading regions with the largest number of admitted students are Moscow and the Moscow Region, Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, the Sverdlovsk Region, Tatarstan, the Rostov Region, the Novosibirsk Region, the Samara Region, and the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The average state exam score of the students who enrolled in 2022 remained the same as the previous year (68.6). This indicates that students with the high level of knowledge received at school are distributed more evenly, with larger number of students deciding to stay in their home regions.
Another performance indicator is the number of winners and prize-winners of academic competitions that were enrolled. Last year, the number of such students in Russia grew by 400 people. Traditionally, they enrol in universities in five Russian regions with 90% enrolling in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. There were 13 students who enrolled without any admission tests in the Voronezh Region this year, which is 30% more than the previous year. Most of them (5 students) enrolled in VSU.
