On 27 February, Institute of International Education of Voronezh State University held the annual competition among male students. Among its participants were students from Mali, Ecuador, and Brazil. The international competition was attended by teachers, employees of the Leisure and Culture Centre, students, and a large number of guests.
The event dedicated to the Day of the Defenders of the Fatherland started with the anthem of the Russian Federation. Then, the competitions began. Stories about homeland were followed by folk dances, poems in native languages, and Russian songs. Sports relays were accompanied by a cheerful laughter of classmates who supported and cheered their friends.
Each participant was awarded with a diploma and a commemorative prize for their endurance and the will-to-win spirit. The title “Mister Institute of International Education 2023” was awarded to Eduardo-Roberto Silva-Melo from Brazil, a fifth year student from the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences.
“The event is aimed at fostering patriotism and boosting interest in different cultures. In addition, to adapt to the new environment, international students need not only to master the necessary knowledge and skills, but also to have positive mindset and be mentally healthy”, said Natalia Vella, Deputy Director of the Institute of International Education.
