On 3 March, an exhibition entitled “Excursion to the “Voronezh Palace” dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Kramskoi Voronezh Regional Art Museum opened in the service department of the VSU Regional Scientific Library. The exhibition had been prepared by Yuri Malik, a staff member of the service department of the VSU Regional Scientific Library.
The Voronezh Museum of Fine Arts was established in 1933 and housed art collections of the former Provincial Museum and the Museum of Antiquities and Fine Arts of Voronezh State University. In 1984, it was renamed into Kramskoi Voronezh Regional Art Museum.
The exhibition presents books and albums dedicated to the history of the museum collection, as well as albums and catalogues of key museum exhibits and literature about people who have made considerable contributions to the development of the Kramskoi Museum.
One of the distinguishing features of the exhibited literature is that it was published under supervision of the staff of the Kramskoi Art Museum.
It should be noted that Olga Tovitskaya, leading bibliographer of the VSU Regional Scientific Library, has prepared reference books and illustrations dedicated to the history of the museum and a bibliographic description of the literature.
Remarkably, the exhibition presents two significant publications, one of which is stored in the service department of the Faculty of Law of Voronezh State University (Joint Catalogue of Cultural Values Stolen or Lost During the Second World War / Vol. 10: Kramskoi Voronezh Regional Art Museum, 2003), the other can be found in the service department of Humanities Faculties (Derpt – Yuryev – Tartu and Voronezh: history of the university collection: catalogue 1, 2006). The exhibition also provides information about two books from the personal library of Oleg Lasunsky, which are now stored in the Department of Rare Books (A.A. Sadretdinova. Due to the nature of the exhibition, it is only possible to see the exhibited literature in the premises of the Department of Fiction Literature at the Regional Scientific Library of Voronezh State University. The exhibition will be of interest to those who are keen on the regional art and culture and the world's artistic heritage. The exhibition will be open till 19 April at the address: 24 Prospekt Revolutsii (4th floor, room 418).
