On 4 March, another session of the Philosophy Discussion Club was held at Voronezh State University. Ruslan Krutikov, a master's student from the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of Voronezh State University, gave a lecture dedicated to the topic “Japanese mythology in modern game design and animation”.

The focus of the discussion was on the understanding of the nature and uniqueness of Japanese culture which is reflected in the identity and mentality of Japanese people today. They originate in the past and can be seen in the modern culture. However, the mythological motifs and themes partly are of ontological significance for the formation of the Eastern mindset and world. Therefore, we can talk about the influence of this mythology on the modern world. The lecturer considered these issues in the context of game design and animation.

During the discussion, students tried to understand the difference between Western and Eastern cultures, despite the fact that both of them have common stories presented in myths. The participants of the club came to the conclusion that this phenomenon and the duality and the differences generated by it are rooted in the initial difference in understanding and the ways of explaining the objective reality. The contemplative nature of Eastern philosophy and culture did not provide the opportunity for assimilation similar to the rational philosophy of the West. These are two paradigms that exist in different cultural and philosophical planes, which determines the uniqueness of each of the cultures. However, common things that we can see in such different cultures can be explained by the presence of the collective unconscious, a theory that was put forward by C.G. Jung.
