The first week of spring began with a fund raising event for the benefit of the “Friends” vet centre, which was organised at Voronezh State University. University volunteers brought together a large number of people who are ready to commit themselves to a good cause.
On 6 March, the participants had the opportunity to purchase greeting cards dedicated to the 8 March for their mothers, grandmothers, and friends and thus donate money to the furry friends at the vet centre.
The event was organised by volunteers from the Faculty of Computer Sciences with the support of the Joint Students’ Board. Concerned students had prepared postcards to exchange them for donations. They drew all the illustrations by hand and had had them printed out at the VSU printing house.
Thanks to the assistance of the Faculties of Law, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Faculty of Philology, the event was held in four university buildings, which allowed engaging a large number of concerned people. The event lasted several hours, during which volunteers offered university staff and students to support a good cause.
“I am pleasantly surprised that students and university staff were so eager to take part in the event. Thanks to such involvement and dedication of the volunteer organisers, the event was a success. I hope that in the future our team will organise more similar events. I thank the “Friends” vet centre for inspiring us!” said Sofia Butovetskaya, one of the organisers of the charity event.
As a result, over 250 people took part in the event and about 35,000 roubles were collected. All the money was transferred to the account of the “Friends” vet centre. On the same day, the necessary medicines for the inhabitants of the vet centre were purchased with the collected funds.
Natalia Molotkova, Director of the centre, expressed her gratitude to the volunteers of Voronezh State University for the assistance and organisation of the large-scale charity event to help animals in need of care and support.
