VSU scientists became laureates of three competitions of the Russian Science Foundation. These competitions were the 2023 competition for projects of individual scientific groups, the 2023 interdisciplinary research competition, and the extension of the duration of the 2020 research group project competition.

The Russian Science Foundation will support the following projects:

  • "Methods of holographic processing of hydroacoustic signals for the detection and identification of low-noise sources using hybrid autonomous uninhabited underwater vehicles and vector-scalar antenna systems on the ocean shelf", head of the project – Sergey Peresyelkov, Head of the Department of Mathematical Physics and Information Technologies;
  • "Development of a method for personalized diagnosis of the initial stages of caries and the level of caries resistance of teeth based on spectroscopically registered markers in biological fluids of the oral cavity and dental biofilm", head of the project – Yuri Ippolitov, leading researcher of Joint Laboratory Physics of Nanoheterostructures and Semiconductor Materials of Voronezh State University, Ioffe Physical-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, А.Ф. and Alferov Federal State Budgetary Institution of Higher Education and Science Saint Petersburg National Research Academic University of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
  • “Socio-political organization of the Eurasian space in the middle ages (historical experience of the Golden Horde and Iran in the 13th–14th centuries)”, head of the project – Yuri Seleznev, Head of the Department of Russian History of the Faculty of History;
  • “Urboecological diagnostics of the state of the air environment in large industrial cities of the Central Black Earth Region: the impact of the noise factor, carcinogenic risks and provision of environmental safety”, head of the project – Semyon Kurolap, Dean of the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology and Tourism;
  • "Genomics and physiology of filamentous colourless sulphur bacteria", head of the project – Margarita Grabovich, Professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Physiology of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences.

“VSU researchers once again confirm the high level of scientific research. Two projects on genetics and geoecology were extended at once, within the framework of which very topical problems are being solved. An interdisciplinary project on hydroacoustics was supported, combining several fundamental areas. It would not have been possible without the active cooperation of our colleagues from the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The project at the intersection of physics and medicine will be implemented for the development of a new technique for the personalized diagnostics of caries. I will especially note the confident victory of the application of VSU historians in the competition of individual scientific groups: this confirms that our university is strong in both the natural sciences and the humanities. I congratulate all the winners and wish the successful implementation of their scientific projects!” said Oleg Kozaderov, Vice Rector for Research, Innovations, and Digitising.

The amount of one Russian Science Foundation grant is from 4 to 15 million roubles annually.
