On 29 March, at the Faculty of Geography, Geoecology, and Tourism of the Voronezh State University, within the framework of the “Guest of the Faculty” project, a meeting was held with a Voronezh traveller, expedition organizer, and civic leader, Mikhail Glushchenko.

The joint project was organized by the Voronezh regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society and the club "People and Countries” and dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society. Mikhail Glushchenko, the author of 2 guidebooks for the Voronezh region and the organizer of 4 festivals, became a guest of the faculty. He has visited 35 countries of the world and 63 regions of Russia and has organized group trips for more than 30,000 tourists.

The event was held in the auditorium of the educational building No. 5 of VSU. During the meeting, the students talked about what places a student can see in the Voronezh region that are useful for professional training. Together with the traveller, the students chose objects for the logo of the Voronezh region and determined the natural smell that can represent our region. Safety when travelling was also discussed.

The speaker gave a presentation on the Large Thematic Guide of the region, which includes 260 tourist locations and 23 topics, from windmills and suspension bridges to panoramic places and gastro-tourism. Mikhail shared his stories and impressions about travelling in the Voronezh region and beyond.

Students of secondary vocational education, who asked the guest the most interesting questions, received a thematic guide to the Voronezh region as a gift. Among them were: representatives of the "Tourism” programme Angelina Dukhina and Andrey Chichaev and a representative of "Rational Use of Environmental Complexes" programme Polina Butyrina. The students also appreciated a copy of the author's version of the guide with a leather cover, with the smell of the Voronezh region and an ancient belemnite from the Cretaceous period.

The event was organized by faculty teachers: Vadim Sviridov, secretary of the Voronezh regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society, and Svetlana Shcherbinina, head of the "People and Countries" club. They awarded the guest with letter of acknowledgement and souvenirs. The result of the meeting was Mikhail Glushchenko's statement about his desire to become a member of the Russian Geographical Society, the oldest public organization in Russia, one of the main tasks of which is the organization of practical field research and expeditions to different parts of Russia and the world.
